At Courtney Collins Fine Art in Big Sky, Montana, a captivating collaboration between painter Deirdre Imus and jewelry artist Jill Garber presents a unique fusion of visual and wearable art. This partnership harmoniously blends Imus's emotive equine paintings with Garber's intricately designed jewelry, creating pieces that embody both inner spirit and external beauty.
The collaboration originated serendipitously when Imus and Garber met while preparing for separate exhibitions at the gallery. They discovered a shared artistic vision and mutual appreciation for each other's work, leading to a joint creative endeavor. Imus's paintings delve into the emotional essence of horses, capturing their internal states and conveying a sense of grace and vulnerability. Garber's jewelry, crafted from earth-sourced gemstones and antique elements, adorns these painted horses, symbolizing their external beauty and further highlighting their grace.
This collaboration reflects a profound connection between the artists, both in their creative processes and shared values. Their combined work offers viewers a multidimensional experience that transcends traditional art forms, inviting contemplation and emotional engagement.
Visitors to Courtney Collins Fine Art can experience this unique collection, where the synergy between Imus's paintings and Garber's jewelry creates a compelling narrative of beauty, emotion, and artistic unity.

Art Gotham in New York City proudly presented The Things We Carry, a solo exhibition by Texas-based, self-taught artist Deirdre Imus, from November 15, 2024, through January 11, 2025. Hosted at the gallery's East Village location at 4 Saint Marks Place, the exhibition featured 40 evocative works that delve into themes of love, loss, and resilience through Imus's distinctive “Stranding” technique.
Imus developed “Stranding,” or “Strand Of Emotion Painting,” to capture the lingering fragments of memory and emotion. Her abstract equine imagery serves as a conduit for exploring the human condition and the enduring spirit of the horse, which she views as a symbol of divine continuity through life's trials and triumphs.
The exhibition's title, The Things We Carry, draws inspiration from Tim O'Brien's novel The Things They Carried, reflecting on the emotional burdens we bear. Imus explains, “As I was painting my horses, which are an homage to my life with my late husband Don Imus who introduced me to the horse, I realized I was painting all the things I carry, the things we carry. Our life together was so entangled with the horse.” ART GOTHAM
An opening reception was held on November 15, 2024, from 6–9 pm, featuring an artist talk by Imus at 7 pm. The exhibition was available for viewing and purchase online through January 11, 2025.
